The 3 stages to achieve the “status” of legendary trader

IMG_3163web

LEVEL 1 the “earn a living ” Trader

GOAL

– earn a living  is the main goal. To put it bluntly, put food on the table is the focus.

– aim at getting  the independence lifestyle

LEVEL OF COMMITMENT

–  these types of trader like the markets and get excited when winning trade(s). When they lose, they can be depressed.  They have a basic system in place, but not strong enough  to be sustainable for a long period of time.

– they are not full-time trader. They have other responsibilities aside.

– obsessed about minor things

LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE

–  a couple of year(s) of experience (up to 30 years!). Main problem: very little improvement

as time goes by. Each year is pretty the same as the previous one. As a result, 10 years of experience means NOTHING.

– as they are looking for the holy grail, they are the perfect client who buys tens thousand dollar worth of courses along the years. They cannot help buying courses every year to find out the holy grail.

LEVEL of  BELIEFS

– come up with many excuses . A few sample:  mortgage payment burden,  no time to trade full time,  don’t focus enough yet very knowledge about the markets, undercapitalized, searching the holy grail all their life.

– the don’t “deserve” to make big bucks. It’s rooted at a subconscious level

SOLVING PROBLEM

–  they  react to a problem, no anticipation or plan ahead of time

–  worse, they don’t face their responsibilities, put their heads in the sand.

INCOME EXPECTATION

– a couple of thousand(s)  dollar per month or more. Above middle-class people achievement is the core expectation.

AWARENESS

–  they have a limited sense of who they are

– no ritual to go in the zone before trading, only basic style of setup (survival mode)

–  the first goal is to make a living; it’s not a calling.

–  no in-depth knowledge of who they are

HOW TO STRIVE for  EXCELLENCE  WHEN YOU REACH THIS LEVEL

– Go beyond your limiting belief. Congratulations!  Raise your standards!  You ‘ll be far happier in the long run.

LEVEL 2 “the good life ” Trader

GOAL

– earn a living  with a high standard of living

– aim at  solving the new challenge and upper-class lifestyle

LEVEL OF COMMITMENT

–  these types of trader are consistent and profitable along the years  They have a good system in place

– they are full-time trader.

– obsessed about being the best

LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE

– they are very experienced and zero in on a particular class of assets/markets

– they find it difficult to go beyond the current level of expertise

LEVEL of  BELIEFS

– they are well-rounded person and their life is very stable. They may be stuck in this level of belief:

The downside of achieving the next level far outweighs the upside. As a result, no big improvement as time goes by

SOLVING PROBLEM

–  they face their responsibilities and problem are solved.

INCOME EXPECTATION

– a good 6-figure income(s) at least . Living in the 1% income bracket is the core expectation

AWARENESS

–  they love trading. It’s a passion, a calling.

–  the  first goal is to have a smooth equity curve, stable and up trending. They may link the sense of identity to their results in the long run.

HOW TO STRIVE for  EXCELLENCE  WHEN YOU REACH THIS LEVEL

– Life supports what supports more of life ( T. Robbins). Kudos! Go out of your comfort zone and

try to contribute more during your lifespan. Upper-class level achievement should not be an end in itself.

LEVEL 3 The legendary Trader

GOAL

– create a new style of trading, beyond the traditional method

–  aim at coming up with a new field of trading

LEVEL OF COMMITMENT

–  these types of trader are dedicated. Usually, for a lifetime.

–  they are full-time trader.  24/7, many years in a row.

–  they may have a life unbalanced when not monitored. Burnout is a real possibility.

– obsessed about being the best version of himself/herself

LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE

– they are very experienced and create a new way of thinking

– they challenge common beliefs and are not ready to settle down to a level of achievement

LEVEL of  BELIEFS

– they are independent thinkers. Very buoyant, joyful, upbeat or the opposite, introvert, calm. They believe that the impossible is possible. The defy the odds, and don’t care about what others may thing.

SOLVING PROBLEM

–  they are ready to “die” to solve each problem along the way. They put the extra effort and eventually, the problem is solved. They understand the deep concept of sunk cost and are not attached to losses/ wins.

– they have very powerful and long list of systems, yet very simple

INCOME EXPECTATION

– at least a 7-figure income but usually, their income is off the charts. Unconventional, the outstanding standard of living.

AWARENESS

–  they have a deep understanding of who they are and hang out with the best people in the world

–  they are likely to have an unusual amount of hunger to reach their goal(s). Caveat: if their identity is attached too strongly to  trading  , they may end their life. They may end up badly if they are not focused on monitoring their balance in life. As a result, the first principle of non-attachment MUST be a top priority goal in  their life.

– the first goal is go to uncharted territory. Beyond the matrix.

HOW TO STRIVE  for  EXCELLENCE  WHEN YOU REACH THIS LEVEL

– Create a balanced life at all cost. Congratulations! This amazing achievement is terrific!  There is more to life than trading. Find out a better way to make the life of trader(s) around the world more meaningful for planet earth. Make a dent in the universe.

What I learned about “gator” in Florida (US) and how you can apply it in your trading plan

IMG_3038

First off, I found mind-blowing (in Florida) the encounter of many gators without ANY kind of protection/safety between you and them. I mean business. Fortunately, they are waiting for their prey patiently and you are NOT, as a human, their primary choice!

THEORY

These “gators” are patient. Really patient. They can
wait for hours without moving a muscle till the “perfect prey”
is within easy reach.

Patience is a master virtue if you want to reach
the highest level of success in your field.

I am committed to reach the highest level of success in my field.
To date, each day, i am efficient 83.4 % of my time. It represents 13.90 hours/day really efficient toward my prominent goal(s)

A couple of month ago (oct-dec 2015), i was at 54.5% ! A +56% increase since i created the navy seals plan Milestone 1 in february 2016. The goal is to reach 93% within a couple of weeks.

PRACTICE

2 hands-on steps:

1 / reduce BIG GOAL 1(see my previous post) into smaller
bite-sized pieces. Big goals are overwhelming. Set a big goal and forget it for a while!

2/ work your ass off, day in day out, with patience for each milestone. Each hour of your DAY is you BIG DEAL. Cherish each hour.

For me, there are 15 phases for milestone number 1.
There are 5 milestone(s) for BIG GOAL 1.

You are like a gator, “waiting for each prey”, one at a time. The gator is patient enough and know that, at some point, the meal will be ready “to eat”. It’s JUST a matter of time.
I know the example may seem ludicrous, but you get the idea.
And apply it!

Each HOUR towards your goal is a WIN. Rinse and repeat. Your patience and determination will create huge momentum in your life without even noticing it.

WHY you should plan 50 years ahead of time

50 years

3 REASONS you “must” think at least 1/2 century ahead while
working day in day out 15h/d.

Look at my chart template You can EMULATE

To date, I am working at:
BIG GOAL1
MILESTONE 1
STAGE 2
Phase 5

1 / NEVER BE ANNOYED with small impediment(s) along the road. Recall the big picture

By doing that, you won’t be bothered and live an “hassle-free” lifestyle. Period.
Create 3 BIG GOALS before you reach your ULTIMATE GOAL. Celebrate each big achievement.
When you take the time to celebrate each BIG GOAL, you are grateful to the universe for all the blessings you receive.

2/ COMPOUND YOUR RESULTS over 5 decades make sense because “compounding” is the eighth wonder of the world.

I go well beyond my comfort zone every day. It’s tough, but the more you do it, the faster you grow as an human being.

The discipline I have everyday COMPOUND over time and CREATE a huge MOMENTUM as time goes by.

3 / MEASURE EVERYTHING DAY IN DAY OUT ;  you want to monitor your progress. You don’t want to be blindfolded.

Be very precise about:

Deadline : a realistic timeframe (date)

Measurable: right key performance indicators(internal/external measurements)

Attainable: if you believe you can deep down inside, you wil pull it off. (your beliefs)

Specific: you outcome MUST be very specific. Nothing choppy, sloppy, i might kinda…(a precise figure for each milestone!)

Write down your ultimate goal 1/2 century from now.

One-day trip attending a TECHNICAL-ANALYSIS EXHIBITION in PARIS 2016 and weekly report WEEK 11

Lesson(s) learned

The business trip in Paris slowed down the rhythm of TIER 1 . Travelling + non-organic food   were the main reasons of the slump in work hours from 103h last week to 90h this week.

1 Nutrition must be a priority next time I travel. To keep peak performance, i must create a system while travelling to eat proper foods.

2 I have to adapt the type of work while travelling because focus and attention are less effective. Zero in on TIER 3 and put aside TIER 1 should be a great solution

Week 11
TIER 1 :    7.17 hours/day  50h

1 Trading simulator

2 Global macro analysis

3 Money Management & psychology of world class trader
TIER 2 : 2.15 hours/day  15h

1 Calisthenic exercise, cardio, musculation…

2 Daily peak state ritual

3 Advanced nutrition experiment to unleash the power within
Put bluntly, what you eat, will be 100% correlated with
your trading P&L

TIER 3 : 3.53 hours/day  25h

Business work related

A few examples :  Trading desk, Improve newsfeed system, Networking….

TOTAL 12.86 hours/day  90h

What I learned at Kennedy Space Center US (Fl.) and the secret to get outstanding results as a trader within one or two decade

photo

Raise your standards

Most people have big dreams. Most of their life, they fail to reach outstanding results. Why? Instead of raising their standards, they
cut down their ambition at a level far below their true potential.

Example: what it means for a trader to raise his standards

As a trader, there is a wide range of revenue you can make within one or two decades. In a nutshell, from earning a good living to ultra net worth individual (Wikipedia: at leat 30M$ net worth), and for some outlier guy, reaching family-office net worth ( 100M$ net worth>) as a trader.

Inner beliefs hold you back from raising your standards

I learned at Kennedy Space Center that big dreams demand big commitment. Very few people in life are willing to work 2 or 3 decades in a row to make it happen. Why? Because of limiting / conflicting beliefs since childhood. Conflicting beliefs are numerous, unconscious and prevent us from taking the necessary steps to achieve extraordinary results.

My recipe for success is simple, yet not easy to do

To put in a nutshell, you have to choose your “standards” within the range of possibility as a trader.

For me, the sky in NOT the limit; I yearn for the challenge “of a mission to mars” as a trader. This is a metaphor but you get the point.  3 MAIN POINTS:

1 WRITING DOWN MY DETAILED MISSION
I wrote down my mission (sept 2015), what I want to achieve with precise figures, date, and milestones and what I am willing to do to pull it off.

2 TOM’s MILESTONEs along THE WAY
My commitment for success becomes increasingly important every couple of weeks. To date,

To date,
Stage 1 (23 weeks) Phase 0/1/2 From August/September 2015 to December 2016
Break: Special private event in January 2016
Stage 2 (100 weeks) Phase 3 : One month from February 2016 to early March 2016
I’m starting off Stage 2 Phase 4 (Mars 8th)
I am ready now to speed up the process. I have started
insanely hard smart hours. I call it: NAVY SEAL type of training.
1 day per month off maximum from now on.

Stage 2 Phase 4 program
Core Module 1:
Macroeconomics in-depth
Advanced technical analysis
Advanced Trading psychology and money management
Massive Simulator training in real market

Core Module 2:
Advanced nutrition practice to unleash the power within
Morning ritual to achieve peak performance…
Musculation, cardio-training 6/7 a week

Module Bonus:
Work-related

Emulate the best trader in the world
Create a powerful network in my field
3 NAVY SEAL TRAINING
Daily commitment 24/7
I choose to do it because it’s hard, not because it’s easy.
Hours work related: 16/17 hours per day
Hours non-work related: 1 hour per day
Hours sleep: 6/7 hours per day

Number of hours work-related must be “smart hours”, not dumb hours.
Deliberate practice
Smart work
Continuous way of improvement
